Creating energy efficient Health Clubs & Leisure Centres
BSSEC has extensive experience in measuring and improving energy efficiency in the Leisure sector, specifically for sports centres, leisure centres, museums & galleries, stadiums and other sports buildings.
We have recently partnered with SLC (The Sport, Leisure and Culture Consultancy) to help clients in the leisure sector optimise the performance of their assets.
We have worked with a large number of different clients including Nuffield Health, DC Leisure, Tate Modern, St Andrew’s Golf Club & The Ricoh Arena. Our work has included conducting energy audits, giving recommendations, working out business cases for potential changes and project management of implementation.
The buildings & facilities management practices used in sports, health and fitness often allow for significant energy savings, often with minimal cost. We have found that energy savings of up to 15% can be achieved on a low, or no cost basis, often through improved operations, maintenance and general building control. We identify these easy wins in our energy audits and then assist your building management team in implementation using our change management training.
Larger savings of up to 30% can regularly be achieved with some investment, for example in new lighting, improved building management technology and heat saving schemes (for example swimming pools).
