We recognise the importance and significance of the commercial opportunities of Demand Side Response within new and existing buildings.
Demand side response (DSR) is the ability for a building or process to switch off its electrical loads at times of peak electricity grid demands. Utility companies can make payments for such load shedding.
We understand the value of Demand Side Response (DSR) within buildings – as a rule of thumb electricity bill savings of 10% can be achieved through the control of electrical loads during winter months between the hours of 4pm and 7pm.
We understand that the current market for DSR is mainly with large single sites – typical large industrial consumers of energy. We perceive that there are commercial opportunities for many more medium size multi-site operations to benefit from DSR.
Through our research programmes we take an active part in the development of automated DSR strategies for new and existing buildings.
